PHILADELPHIA -- Owen Tippettscored two goals, and the Philadelphia Flyers extended their winning streak to five games with a 5-1 victory against the Dallas Stars at Wells Fargo Center on Thursday.

Sean Walker, Cam Atkinson, and Scott Laughton scored for Philadelphia (25-14-6), which matched its longest winning streak of the season (Nov. 10-19). Morgan Frost had two assists, and Samuel Ersson made 14 saves.

"Coming into this game, I think we kind of talked that we wanted to make a statement," Frost said. "I think most of the League knows that they're one of the top teams in the League, and I think we came out flying. So, it's nice to see."

DAL@PHI: Tippett spins around defender and backhands home his second goal

Tyler Seguin scored for Dallas (26-13-5), which had won four of its previous five (4-1-0). Jake Oettinger made 38 saves.

"They were really good, and we were very bad," Stars coach Peter DeBoer said. "It was a combination of both things. ... I thought we were good for about the first minute, we had a couple chances right off the bat, and then the next 59 minutes, they won every race, they won every puck battle. So, just a poor, poor, poor effort."

Walker made it 1-0 at 19:00 of the first period, taking a one-touch backhand pass from Frost and shooting over the blocker of Oettinger on a breakaway.

Philadelphia outshot Dallas 14-1 in the first period and 43-15 in the game.

"I think we were well-prepared in what they do and how good they are, how deep they are," Laughton said. "I just think our sticks in the neutral zone, breaking up plays, creating turnovers and going the other way. It's hard to play against when you play a three-quarter ice game like that and create chances for yourself. Guys have got confidence right now, and it's been fun to watch."

DAL@PHI: Walker fires in a sweet shot on the rush to open the scoring

Tippett scored to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead at 3:03 of the second period when he collected the puck after a Sean Couturier face-off win and shot over Oettinger's blocker from the top of the left circle.

"When everyone's playing well, it's fun and it keeps going and gives everyone confidence," Tippett said. "When the team is playing well and it's a full-group effort, it gives everyone confidence. When you're winning games, it's a fun time."

Seguin made it 2-1 at 12:42 with a wrist shot from the bottom of the left circle after Walker turned the puck over in the Flyers zone.

"On the road, you want to start strong, and I don't know what the shots were, maybe 15-1," Seguin said. "That's not a recipe for success. ... Jake held us in. We wanted to respond in the second, Jake held us in again. By the third, it was just too much."

Atkinson knocked a rebound out of midair on the power-play 44 seconds into the third period to put the Flyers ahead 3-1.

Laughton scored on a penalty shot at 9:16 to make it 4-1 after Stars defenseman Joel Hanley hooked him on a breakaway.

DAL@PHI: Laughton scores a nifty goal on penalty shot to extend the lead

Tippett made it 5-1 at 14:30, skating up the left side and shooting a spinning backhand over the glove of Oettinger.

"It's fun to watch," Laughton said. "Any time you see him pick up the puck with speed, you're on the edge of your seat. You know something's coming. I think he's just coming into his own right now. It's fun to watch, fun to be part of."

Philadelphia coach John Tortorella said, "I've seen a lot of good goals. I haven't seen one of those in quite a while."

NOTES: Couturier had an assist on Tippett's first goal for his 300th in the NHL. ... Laughton is the third Flyers player to score on a penalty shot this season, joining Couturier (Oct. 17) and Travis Konecny (Dec. 9). ... Philadelphia won against Dallas for the first time since Jan. 10, 2019; it had gone 0-6-1 in the previous seven. ... Flyers forward Joel Farabee had an assist to extend his point streak to four games (three goals, two assists). ... Atkinson has three goals in his past three games since ending a 26-game goal drought. ... Stars forward Jason Robertson had his six-game point streak end (three goals, five assists). … Forward Matt duch*ene became the third-fastest player in Dallas Stars history (since 1993-94) to reach 40 points (43 games).
