The EDP is a European political party that brings together political parties and Members of the European Parliament who want a Union closer to its citizens. We are a transnational political movement committed to building a European democracy based on the common values of peace, freedom, solidarity and education, while proudly affirming its culture in the world of tomorrow. We are part of the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament. The European Democratic Party was launched on April 16th 2004 and officially founded on December 9th 2004 in Brussels. The EDP was founded as a reaction to the growing influence of Eurosceptic parties within the European institutions and thus formed a new multinational centrist bloc. The European Democratic Party is ideologically centrist and federalist. Since 2004, the EDP has formed a joint European parliamentary group with the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe party.

It's time to rebuild Europe
Our responsibility as Democrats is to form alliances, to find a balance and then to create momentum for reform. The European Democratic Party must inspire a new political constellation to transform the European Union and strengthen European democracy. Europe must become sustainable, fair, competitive, engaged, working with allies around the world and looking to the future. This is a major challenge and a matter of urgency. So until June 2024, we will be the unwavering standard bearers for reform. We will rebuild Europe. We will advance our priorities with more determination than ever.

Languages, cultures, regional differences and local initiatives must be cherished. They are Europe's greatest asset.
Our Manifesto
Democrats play a role at the centre of European politics. That centre is both a project and a political mindset. Those who disagree with you are not enemies. So our future must be balanced, and that balance that must be built in Europe. A Democrat leads and seeks a balance within the community to whom he belongs. The European Democratic Party wants and must be the inspiration for a new political constellation whose aim is to transform the European Union and strengthen our European democracy. The challenge is great, the urgency is there, and our determination unshakeable. We will therefore be today, tomorrow and in 2024, the torchbearer of the European refoundation.
