Issue July/August 2017 - Vintage Rock (1)

VINTAGE ROCK celebrates a time when music changed the world - 45s, youth culture and the odd thrusting pelvis. Vintage Rock chronicles all the stellar artists and music, the enduring legacy of those early pioneers - and why it’s still the best way to live. Spanning the dawn of the 50s to early Beatles (pre Eastern mysticism!), Vintage Rock covers a time of Mods and Rockers, crinoline skirts and blue jeans, rock star movies and screaming-girl concerts. This special magazine rejoices in the music and verve of Elvis, The Shadows, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Gene Vincent and a host more, and speaks to a contemporary audience that relishes the vitality and flair of the era.

So, as you can see… you’re…2 min

THE FEATURESGRETSCH CLIFF GALLUP DUO JET SIGNATUREGretsch Guitars is – some might say, finally – paying tribute to Gene Vincent and his Blue Caps guitarist Cliff Gallup, with its G6128T-CLFG Cliff Gallup Signature Duo Jet model. Dressed in flawless gloss black lacquer, of course, the guitar is a doppelgänger for Gallup’s original 1954 Duo Jet with its twin DynaSonic singlecoil pickups, a rosewood fingerboard with period correct ‘big block’ pearloid inlays and 22 thin vintage-style frets, and a compensated aluminum bridge with aluminum base. It also comes with the obligatory Bigsby B3BBST vibrato unit with ‘black painted trough’, classic “arrow” control knobs, and a dark-stained headstock bearing Gallup’s signature. The Duo Jet also features the deep U profile mahogany neck, found on the earliest models, finished, like the chambered mahogany and arched maple top body, in…1 min
