When ECW debuted on Sci Fi, the ring had black colored ropes and an ECW logo canvas. Also, they started a cool concept to have the ECW superstars enter from a separate opening than smackdown, which was the Classic brick wall design with the isle emerging through the crowd. The smackdown set was covered by a black curtain, which made show look like it was emanating from its own arena on Television. Slowly, the WWE got rid of this stage design. First to go was the logo canvas. Then a few weeks later, they didn't chance ropes and left the silver Smackdown ones. A few months later, WWE abounded the brick wall design and went with a new flashy Christmas light design. The flashy light entrance was moved to same position that the Smackdown wrestlers used except with an old WCW like star background covering the smackdown backdrop. This past week on ECW, they decided to not even alter the Smackdown set for the ECW hour. What is next? Is Vince McMahon going to just leave up the Smackdown aprons for the ECW hour? Eventually, he will go back to the generic "Entertainment" apron. This will probably be done so the marks tuning in will be able to generalize that ECW is WWE. |

SmackDown uses blue ropes, not silver, and ECW using the SD set was because of Ozzy. It was back to using its own stage last Tuesday. It's kinda like how SmackDown sometimes uses the RAW set when they do supershows together. And yes, the real ECW died in 2001. That doesn't mean this ECW isn't good in its own right. |
