Celadon City

Welcome to the biggest city in Pokémon Land. Not only is there tons of stuff to discover and battles to be won, but Celadon City actually features a Pokémon Super-Store as well. Here, you can pretty much buy anything you can imagine. Well, okay. Maybe not everything. But it's still the best place to shop in the whole game.

Celadon Mansion

Have you ever dreamed of meeting the people that programmed Pokémon? Here's your chance -- at least kind of... Inside Celadon Mansion, the large building in the north, you can talk to virtual members of the Game Freak team. You'll be told to return once you get all 150 Pokémon. What will you get? A certificate, of course. But there's a much better secret slumbering in this mansion. Sneak into the building through the back door (while you're in the backyard, head all the way to the west to grab an Ether ) and you will get your hands on one of the coolest Pokémon in the game: Eevee. Go up the various staircases until you reach a lone man in a room with a Pokéball. Grab the Ball to get the Evee.

With the help of three mysterious stones, you can evolve Eevee into another, even more powerful Pokémon:

  • Thunder Stone: Evolve into Jolteon
  • Fire Stone: Evolve into Flareon
  • Water Stone: Evolve into Vaporeon

The vote for best evolution goes to the insanely fast Jolteon but all three are great additions to your team. Sadly, you can only find one single Eevee in this game.

Before leaving the mansion, talk to an old lady somewhere in the building to get some Tea. Give this Tea to one of the guard houses around Saffron City to open up the city.

Celadon Department Store

If you've got a lot of cash to burn, this is definitely the place to be. The sheer amount of stuff you can buy in this giga-sized Pokémon Mart... And it's not just the usual power-ups.

Here are a few things you should definitely do while in the store:

  • Don't forget to talk to the clerk on the 3rd floor. He will give you TM18 (Counter) -- for free!
  • Buy a Thunder Stone on the 4th floor (or, if you're not into turning your Eevee into a Jolteon), get a Water Stone or Fire Stone.
  • Buy a Poké Doll. You will need it in Saffron City.
  • Go to the roof level and buy one of each beverage--Fresh Water, Soda and Lemonade. Give them to the thirsty little girl to receive TM16 (Light Screen), TM20 (Safeguard) and TM33 (Reflect).
  • Stock up on Lemonade. It heals 80 HP and costs only 350. It's definitely the most economic healing potion in the game.
  • If you've got cash to burn, buy some performance enhancers, like Protein, Iron, Carbos or Calcium.

The awesome Softboiled ability is hidden right in the middle of Celadon City. However, you can't get it unless you've got a Pokémon that knows Surf. Once you do have it, simply cross the little pond and talk to the guy on the other side.

Get the Coin Case

You need find a coin case if you're planning to win big at the Casino. It's really easy to get. Just enter the Restaurant in the southeast of Celadon City and talk to the gambler. Be sure to visit the warehouse next door to get a vital hint.

Game Corner

Here's your chance to win tokens that can be exchanged for some hard to find Pokémon. The slot machines in the game center have different odds, so be sure to abandon a machine that's not paying off at all. Your best bet is to always save your game before you play at a machine. Reload your saved game whenever you lose too much money. Save again if you take in a major win. This way, you can rack up quite a lot of tokens -- and you'll need them if you want to get your hands on some of the great prizes available in the Exchange Corner:

Before leaving, examine the poster on the North wall. To do that, you'll first have to beat a Team Rocket grunts. This poster will open up Team Rocket's Hideout.
